How colour can affect you

How colour can affect you

It influences almost everything we do, think and feel. In fact, colour can alter our emotions, moods and even opinions. So, when it comes to choosing this for your kitchen furniture, it could do more than simply make it look good. In reality, the perfect choice/s could help you feel better. And, as we’re spending more time at home, it makes sense to consider colours in your kitchen carefully. After all, these days we are cooking, relaxing and perhaps even working in this room, more than ever before.

I think there’s never been a better time to get creative with your kitchen colour. At Caple, we offer a wide range of colourful painted kitchens. However, our selection will allow you to easily choose a shade or two to suit your taste and personality. Whether you’re keen to embrace natural, go bold or even mix and match, we should have an option just for you.

The 2021 colour palette

The 2021 colour palette

Greens, ranging from sage to emerald, are ones to watch this year, with more to follow on this in this blog later. Grey shades have even made a comeback. I think this is thanks to, in part, colour specialist Pantone, who recently released Ultimate Grey in their 2021 palette. Don’t forget that a spectrum of blues, from paler hues to navy, still feature on residential wish-lists. And, for fans of modern neutrals, you’ll be pleased to hear these continue to be popular. Just check out our comprehensive range, from Cloud and Mussel through to Pebble and Smoke.

Pesaro painted kitchens

Pesaro painted kitchens

The latest looks demonstrate how painted kitchens are moving away from more vibrant shades. And, if you usually err towards a more sophisticated palette, I think you’ll like our new Pesaro (and Genoa) painted kitchens. From paler shades, such as Cloud, through to darker hues, like Graphite, you can mix and match to create definition in certain areas. We’ve even got a new one called Storm in our Pesaro collection.

It’s a beautiful navy shade, which I think makes it incredibly versatile if you want to create a contrast with a lighter colour way. For those who love creating more of a blend, try a combination of Light Grey base and Dust Grey wall units. Then team this look with a Graphite-coloured island unit to create a focal point in your kitchen design. The monochromatic colour palette is one of the latest trends in home decor this year. So why not embrace this in your heart of the home?

Different shades of grey make a stylish statement in this modern classic kitchen as this combination of Dust Grey, Light Grey and Graphite, from our Pesaro collection, shows.

Pesaro features a modern Shaker-style collection of doors. They combine timeless detailing with a versatile, on-trend colour palette that’s perfect for providing a fresh and contemporary twist to classic kitchen design. I chose a luxuriously smooth and durable matt silk finish, to add a more modern slant to this traditional style. You can also choose elements, which can help you customise your look, from wine rack inserts to curved doors.

A new kitchen is a big investment and, if you’re keen for it to stand the test of time, choosing modern shades can be a sensible, yet savvy, way to tap into the painted kitchens trend. This style is also a practical choice (especially for homes with young families), as this durable finish tends to be pretty resistant to signs of wear and tear.

Stanton country kitchens

Stanton country kitchens

This eye-catching shade of Midnight Blue provides the perfect accent colour to showcase our Stanton kitchen island against the Mussel base units.

If you’ve got a penchant for classic design, our Stanton may be just what you’re looking for. Our painted kitchens collection has absolute country farmhouse appeal – it looks elegant, yet practical. In terms of the style, you can expect to see intricate internal beading, which replicates the Shaker look perfectly. You can even choose from 20 shades, so you’re bound to find a colour to fit your personality. You’ll find a selection of eight exciting new shades in this colour palette too, which will instantly add a contemporary finish to your hub of the home. From beautiful Blush and Dark Sage to Ink and Lavender Haze, these on-trend colours instantly increase your options.

One of my favourite ideas for painted kitchens is to choose an accent colour to highlight a specific feature, such as a kitchen island, or even frame a bank of appliances. I think blue on an island unit works well with a wide range of neutrals, and this colour can also complement metallics in the accessories, such as pendant lights perfectly. Introducing one strong colour adds definition and interest, and helps to prevent your space from looking bland.

Going green with Chester

Going green with Chester

Green is a strong contender for classic painted kitchens with a contemporary twist. In this shot, our Chester collection features soft Sage doors and a contrasting Woodland Grey on the island.

Many interiors trend forecasts suggest that green is THE shade to watch in 2021 and beyond. In fact, at Caple, we are already seeing a rising demand for green kitchens, and for obvious reasons. I would expect a shade that represents peace, calm and harmony to become even more popular as this year unfolds. Our Chester kitchen actually comes in 20 distinctive colourways. We’ve just added two green colourways to our

collection so look out for Dark Sage and Heritage Green. I do have a soft spot for our mid-Sage option. You can choose a tonal combination or try a strong contrast with dark grey. This furniture will appeal to you if you’re a fan of classic features with modern design. I think it’s an ideal choice if you’re keen to get creative with different colours, and add interest and variety with a combination of different shades.

Made-to-order with Halebury

Made-to-order with Halebury

Thyme on the island unit makes a striking combination with Bone on the wall units in our Halebury made-to-order kitchen.

If you love the idea of an in-frame kitchen, but you’re looking for a more affordable option, why not consider a made-to-order lookalike? In fact, my team and I picked our Halebury for our painted kitchens collection with exactly this in mind. I think you’ll agree this looks like the real thing thanks to the solid-ash door with an additional groove to give a genuine in-frame look. There are fifteen colours to choose from and Bone and Thyme make an uplifting pairing.

Woburn’s painted kitchens

Woburn’s painted kitchens

Our Woburn made-to-order painted kitchen collection fuses contemporary and classic elements with a wide range of colours.

Last, but not least, it’s time to showcase our Woburn. Whether you’re looking for ‘made to order’ you can personalise your style or prefer to pick the existing range. With 15 modern colours to choose from, this will give you the chance to put your personal stamp on the end design.

I do like a contrasting two-tone effect so I suggest you pick a lighter colourway with a darker hue. This will add a more modern touch to the traditional design of your doors and cabinetry.
