Caple's Brand Ambassador
Having become a Gordon Ramsay scholar in 2003 and then going on to chef in the US [Chanterelle in New York and the 3 Michelin-starred French Laundry in California], France and Sicily, Josh’s culinary skills developed exponentially. He even turned down the chance to work with greats like Gordon Ramsay, Angela Harnett and Marcus Wareing.
Instead he returned to Bristol, and with his sister Holly, took on a local pub called the Pony & Trap. Their transformation of the Pony & Trap won him his first Michelin star at 27.
Now recognised as one of the most exciting places to eat in the South West, the pub has maintained its star and in 2015 was voted second in the Publican Morning Advertiser’s Top 50 UK Gastropubs.
As well as being the co-founder and curator of Eat Drink Bristol Fashion and a Director of Yurt Lush Café, Josh also directs the Severn Project CIC, creating urban farm sites to yield high-quality local produce. Josh has been featured in two major books, and competed in the South West heats of Great British Menu three times.
And now Josh has made a Michelin star style return to his early days with the opening of Salt & Malt, a true Eggleton twist on the Great British classic fish & chip shop and restaurant.
Caple have been working with Josh as an ambassador since 2011 and he first presented his skills on The Caple Stand at KBB in May of 2012 drawing crowds every time as he created culinary delights on Caple Appliances. Four years and several seasonal ‘The Chef ‘ magazines later Caple are delighted to be collaborating with Josh once more for the all new design+living magazine showcasing more delicious recipes and new cooking tips.
