    FAQs

Why does my C840i induction hob drop power on zones when I turn on another zone?

For a typical 4 zone induction hob of say 7kw you cannot have all 4 zones on full power at the same time due to load rating.
The power management within the electronics will spilt the power load depending on the number of zones being used.

So if to the power of 12 you could get a spilt of:

    1 zone 12
    2 zones 6 + 6
    3 zones 4 + 4 + 4
    4 zones 3 + 3 + 3 + 3

Or a combination say 2 zones – one at 9 & one at 3 however this power sharing varies between brands, models, designs, number of zones etc….
Please note that power sharing is generic across ALL Brands that manufacture induction hobs.
Some Brands, models have split side zones (LH/RH) which allows one zone on the LH & one zone on the RH to be set on high or boost for a few minutes
But once another zone is added into the equation then the power will be shared between the 3 zones.

My induction hob is flashing U

This is not a fault with the hob but pan non-compatibility or recognition.

    • There is no pan on the cooking zone.
    • The pan is not compatible with induction.
    • The bottom diameter of the pan is too small.
Why is there an unpleasant hot smell emanating from my induction hob?

If recently installed please check installation guidelines have been followed for ventilation & the hob frontal vents are not blocked.

Please check there is no wooden batten or rail blocking the front vent stopping air flow.

My induction hob is displaying E5

This code normally suggests a live wire has not been connected correctly during installation – check the wiring terminal block as a link may be missing or not fitted securely.

Refer to instruction book for further information as this varies between models.

My Induction hob is displaying EC

This is linked to E4 & EC is displayed if the configuration hasn’t been carried out correctly & been unsuccessful.

Refer to instruction book for further information as varies between models.

My induction hob is displaying E4

This is not a fault with the hob & probably caused by configuration of cooking zones not carried out by installer after installation.

Refer to instruction book for further information as varies between models.
